A woman was reportedly stabbed and robbed in the Issaquah Highlands early Monday morning in an unusual crime for such a peaceful community.

“We don’t get a lot of this type of stuff in Issaquah at all,” said Issaquah Commander Stan Conrad. “It’s understandable that people should be concerned.”

The 36-year-old was treated at Harborview Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries and released this morning, according to police.

The woman was walking to her apartment at about 12:15 a.m. on the 1700 block of 16th Lane Northeast, near Grand Ridge Elementary, when a man grabbed for her purse.

The two struggled, when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed her once, and fled with the purse. Her neighbors came out to help, after she called out for help, Conrad said.

Police don’t have any suspects, and no witnesses have come forward.

The woman described the suspect as white or hispanic with stocky build, dark clothing and dark baseball-type cap.

Police are asking if people saw or heard anything to call Detective Sergeant Kevin Nash at 425-837-3200.
