Betty passed away October 2, 2019 at the age of 89. She was born on September 5, 1930 in Wenatchee, WA to George and Lucille Hess. She was raised in Peshastin and Leavenworth, Wa into her teen years but moved to Bremerton where she graduated with honors from Bremerton High School. She married Samuel Rubin and they enjoyed over 71 years of marriage together.
Throughout her life she was active in garden clubs and was also a very knowledgeable master gardener. She worked for Molbak’s Garden Center for several years. She also worked as bookkeeper for Sams’ air conditioning company.
In the course of their years together, Betty and Sam lived in Ridgecrest (now part of Shoreline), on the Sammamish Plateau where they had a 5 acre farm and in East Woodinville during their retirement years.
Betty is survived by her husband Sam, her sons Larry Rubin and Wayne Rubin; her daughter Gale Pelan, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct 26, 2:00 pm at Sunset Hills Chapel, 1215 145th. Pl. SE. Bellevue. In lieu of flowers, donate to the American Diabetes Association.
