Harold “Dwain” Lee
10/15/1914 to 1/9/2010
Harold Lee passed away his home in Issaquah on January 9, 2010 at the age of 95. He is survived by his loving daughters Susan Lee Hook and husband Rob Hook of Issaquah and Barbara Lee Walker and her life partner Patrick Augusta of Morongo Valley, California. Dwain was born in Mineral Wells, Texas where he still has many family ties. He left Texas for California in 1929 where he met his wife, Dorris Ida Point, in 1935 to whom he was married for 53 years. He worked in the grocery industry in and around Los Angeles for over 45 years culminating in the building and operation of the first “super ranch market” in Garden Grove, California in 1946. He and Dorris ultimately took up the challenge of avocado ranching in 1974. After retiring from ranching in 1978, he and Dorris moved to Long Beach Peninsula in Washington where they enjoyed life by the ocean.Dwain was one of those friendly people who never met a stranger and left a happy imprint with most everyone he met. Friends and family will remember his infectious smile and laugh and endless stories. His boundless energy and enthusiasm for hard work, travel and adventure throughout his years was amazing to all who tried to keep up with him. His family, friends, caregivers and neighbors will surely mss him. Per his request, there will be no services, just “open a bottle of champagne and enjoy”.
