RONALD HAWORTH

Ronald Haworth was born in Yakima, WA Nov. 17, 1934. Raised in Selah, graduated from Selah High school in 1952. He was in the Army for three years stationed in Germany. He married Carolyn Lake in 1959. They have two children, Eunice Haworth and Ronald Haworth. Dad was a co-owner of NAPA Auto Parts in Selah and was also the first paid Fire Chief in Selah until 1968.

On Jan. 1, 1969 he became the first paid Fire Chief in Redmond, WA until 1982. He was Chief in Puyallup, WA for 3 years. In 1985 Dad and Mom moved back to the Eastside to Issaquah in unincorporated King County where dad was the Fire Chief at King County Dist 10 until 1995. In the late 90’s dad was instrumental in helping to form the city of Sammamish, where he served on the first City Council from 1999-2003 and was appointed deputy mayor at some point during the four years.

After retirement he and mom traveled the country in their motor home absolutely enjoying life. Beginning in 2003 they wintered in Yuma, AZ. They moved back to Yakima in June of this year.

Dad was preceded in death by his mother Eunice Haworth and Father Ward Haworth. Survived by wife Carolyn Haworth, daughter Eunice Haworth, son Ronald Haworth, and his sister Janet Bates.

A Celebration of Life will be September 27th at Selah Civic Center, 216 1st Ave. Selah, WA. Doors will open at 11:30 am service will began at 1:00pm.
