How can Sammamish community regain access to tennis courts? | Letter

Outside of outdoor tennis courts associated with some area schools, there aren't many others in the area. Our population continues to grow, including the addition of more tennis players locally, which makes it harder to get court time since courts aren't being added to keep up with player growth.

High school courts are used by many. But Skyline High School generally has their courts locked, unlike courts at Eastlake and Issaquah High School that are open to the public. Skyline has a nice facility — eight courts that have lights, although the lights haven’t worked in awhile. I’m assuming the lock-up is to combat non-tennis use on the courts, but doing so makes it harder for area players to find open courts already in short supply.

I’m sure the other high schools have similar issues but deal with it in other ways than restricting the public. Since taxpayer dollars funded Skyline’s courts, how can public access be regained, along with working lights?
