We need your help, Issaquah and Sammamish | Contest ends May 20

Take a look at these photos Issaquah and Sammamish residents have submitted for the #WeAreTheReporter cover photo contest. What do you think? Do you have an image to add to the mix? We want to hear from you.

We’ve received nearly 100 submissions for our #WeAreTheReporter masthead contest as of Thursday  and we want to know what you think, Issaquah and Sammamish.

Here’s the gist: We’re looking for an image that captures the heart of these beautiful communities. The image will go on the front page of the Issaquah/Sammamish Reporter behind the “Reporter” lettering.

We’ve tried to snap that perfect picture ourselves, but nothing we’ve come up with is quite right.

So, we asked for your help and started taking submissions from the public on Earth Day, April 22. We’re nearly through the submission period, which ends Friday, May 20; but there’s still time to get your image in.

Plus, we want to know which image or images you like best: Help define your community in your community newspaper.

It’s easy to do both.

Submissions

Find or create an image: Entries can be panoramic photographs, paintings or sketches whatever you believe best represents the Sammamish plateau and Issaquah communities. Submissions should be horizontally favored. Our current photo’s dimension are roughly 5 to 1.

Share your entry with us on social media: Post it to our Facebook page at facebook.com/IssaquahReporter/ or tag us on Twitter @IssReporter with the hashtag #WeAreTheReporter.

Send submissions via email: Our email address is news@issaquahreporter.com. Be sure to use the subject line #WeAreTheReporter. Be forewarned we’ll post all email submissions online for our communities to see.

Feedback

We’ve put the submissions together inFlickr album, also shown in the above slideshow. They’re organized by name and number of submission. Every time we get another submission, we’ll add to this album.

When you see one you like, tweet @IssReporter, post on our Facebook page at facebook.com/IssaquahReporter/ or email news@issaquahreporter.com to let us know.

We’ve also been posting all submissions to Twitter and Facebook. Like, heart or comment to let us know which one you like best.

We’ll narrow down our search for the perfect picture for the May 27 print edition. We’ll show off the finalists in the paper and online. We’ll ask the community to weigh in again before picking the final piece, which will print for the first time June 3. Finalists will be sent specific instructions on how to submit higher resolution images for print.

Additionally, Publisher William Shaw just made this more interesting. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to Palomino, a Mediterranean restaurant located in Bellevue, as well as having their art on the front page, with credit.

We know this area is full of talented artists we’ve reported on dozens of them. So show off your skills and help us pick the image that best represents the community.
