Ryan Doherty smashes the ball at its highest point during the finals of the AVP Kingston Seattle Open on Aug. 9 on Lake Sammamish State Park. The combo of John Mayer and Doherty, who were seeded fourth at the tourney, defeated the tandem of Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena 2-1 (20-22, 21-17, 15-13) in the men’s final. Doherty and Mayer defeated the top three seeded squads in en route to their first ever championship title as teammates.
