Bandow commits to play baseball at Yale University

Eastside Catholic pitcher will play baseball at an Ivy League school

Eastside Catholic Crusaders hard throwing right-handed pitcher Jackson Bandow attained an aspiration he’d been pining for since he was a little kid.

Bandow, who will be a senior during the 2016-17 school year, verbally committed to play baseball for the Division-1 Ivy League Yale University baseball program on Aug. 23. Bandow, who said his fast-ball consistently hovers in the upper 80s and occasionally touches 90 miles per hour, said choosing Yale wasn’t a difficult decision.

“It is just a great place to play baseball in college, not to mention the academics. Academics has always been one of my top priorities. An Ivy League education is the best education out there and the fact I can also play on the baseball team as well was an amazing opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up,” Bandow said.

Bandow carries a 3.93 grade point average at Eastside Catholic and is currently undecided on a college major. He said he is considering Political Science, History or an English degree and also has a long term aspiration of completing law school. The 17-year-old said he would like to pursue a possible career in Sports Law in the future. Bandow was glad to make his collegiate choice before his senior year of high school.

“I don’t have to worry about applying to a bunch of different schools. I’m looking forward to taking the opportunity to relax and just play baseball my senior year. When I went on my visit to Yale, I just loved the atmosphere and attitude they have created there,” he said.
