Three from area selected to national lacrosse tournament

Three student-athletes from Issaquah and Sammamish have been selected by the Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association to be part of a team that will represent Washington in the U.S. Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament in New York next month.

Skyline’s Katie Bucy, Issaquah’s Suzanne Emerson and Eastside Catholic’s Justice Gilbert will join 19 others from around the state at one of the oldest lacrosse tournaments in the country, running since 1933.

The Spartans got a shutout from Zach Anselmi and Ben Morgan in the regular season finale and clinched a spot in the 4A state tournament with the win over the Falcons.

Goals from Austin Dodd, Daniel Richardson and Pedro Miola helped Skyline to the win and the 4A KingCo title.

The Spartans lost only six games combined and did not drop a set in any of the singles or doubles matches.

Keira O’hearn earned medalist honors for the Mustangs with a 38 while Jamie Midkiff paced the Wolves with a 39.

Price headed to Azusa Pacific

Issaquah senior and leading scorer Nick Price has committed to Azusa Pacific to continue his education and playing career.

Price averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2 assists and nearly 2 steals per game for the Eagles, which made it back to the round of 16 for the first time in six years.

“His overall game really improved his senior year,” head coach Jason Griffith said. “That resulted in our team experiencing some success.”
