Eagle gymnasts move on to state

Issaquah came up shy of advancing its team to this weekend’s state gymnastics meet, but advanced three individuals through last Saturday’s Sea-King District meet.

The Eagles finished in third place in the four-team district meet at Sammamish High School with 171.9 points. Woodinville won the competition with 181.9 points, followed by Bothell with 177.3. Shorewood rounded out the field in fourth place with a 134.75. Only the No. 1 team, Woodinville, advanced to state. The top two all-around performers and the top six competitors in each event also moved on. The Eagles will send Olivia Goree in the bars, vault and floor. Risa Fukuda will compete in the vault, beam and floor. Stephanie Harms will compete on the beam.

The state meet begins Feb. 20 and continues Feb. 21 at the Tacoma Dome.
