Eastlake girls take third place game, boys fall to Bothell | Prep basketball news

The 4A KingCo basketball tournament resumes tonight, when the Lady Wolves meet Woodinville for third place and a shot at a Regional berth.

Eastlake beat Woodinville 66-60 in the third place game of the 4A KingCo girls basketball tournament at Juanita High School Thursday.

The victory gives the Lady Wolves a shot at the district’s final Regional berth and a play-in game against Edmonds-Woodway Saturday at 7 p.m. in Edmonds.

The Warriors won a 4A play-in game during the 2010-2011 season in Sammamish.

Eastlake beat Issaquah 53-48 Thursday behind a double digit first quarter advantage and a game high 13 points from Lauren Mittenthal.

Maggie Douglas scored nine more in the win, helping stave off a late rally by the Eagles in the loser-out game.

Mandie Hill scored 12 and Lauren Longo added 11 more for Issaquah in the loss.

Wolves’ boys downed by Bothell

Eastlake finished its boys basketball season at the 4A KingCo tournament with a 57-52 loss to Bothell in the consolation bracket semi-finals.

Mick Vorhof scored 22 points to pace the Wolves, while Jordan Lester put in 16 more as Eastlake made a third quarter run to try and climb out of a first half deficit.

But Josh Martin’s game high 24 points were too much to overcome, as Bothell kept its season alive.
