Eastlake one win from state, Issaquah, Skyline fall on baseball diamond | Prep sports news

The Wolves punched a semifinal ticket in the 4A KingCo baseball tournament, while the Eagles and Spartans find themselves one loss from elimination

It began some six hours after the scheduled start time, and at a different locale, but Eastlake won its first round game in the 4A KingCo baseball tournament against Skyline 3-0, moving one win from its first 4A state tournament spot in more than a decade.

The Wolves, which avenged a regular season loss to the Spartans, face fellow first round winner Bothell Monday in a 4 p.m. game at Woodinville. The winner of that semifinal earns a tournament title game spot, and also punches its ticket to state.

Skyline will try to keep its season alive at 4 p.m. Monday at Inglemoor, where Saturday’s first round game was moved after rain washed away the first two games. The Spartans will meet Roosevelt, which lost to Bothell in its first game.

Issaquah led 1-0 after an inning and a half against Crest champ Redmond, but saw the Mustangs score six unanswered to roll to the 6-1 win.

The Eagles meet rival Newport Monday at 7 p.m. at Inglemoor in a loser-out game.

Each of the four Crest Division teams won in the first round of the tournament.
