Lowdown: Eastside Catholic started the 2009 campaign hot before running into a slew of problems. The Crusaders won their first six games, then lost players to injuries, concussions and the flu. The setbacks sent EC into a downward spiral as they went on a losing streak and missed the playoffs. The Crusaders ended the season on a promising note, however. After getting their entire lineup back for the first time, they defeated league champion Lakeside in the final game of the season. Eastside returns nine starters from that team.

Returners: Kellie Standish, Sr., Defender; Alli DeJong, Sr., Defender; Kristin Standish, So., Forward; Malia Bachesta, Jr., Forward; Lauren Thomas, So., Goalkeeper; Lauren Breynart, Jr., Midfielder.

Newcomers: Jordan Lucier, Fr.; Callie Enfield, Fr.; Maddie Racine, Fr.; Molly Callans, Fr.

Key losses: Melissa Tsitsis and Lindsay Fracas

Outlook: “This is the most talent we have ever had at Eastside Catholic in my 10 years with the program,” head coach Scott Brayton said. “We have very high expectations for our season and look to be a contender for the Metro Mountain Division.”
