An Eastside Catholic home victory on Friday over O’Dea would have forced a three-way tie for first in the Metro Mountain Division.

The seventh-ranked Irish closed the door that possibility quickly, however.

O’Dea jumped out to a three-touchdown lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 49-14 win over Eastside. Michael Martin had TD runs of 9 and 54 yards in the first quarter. Irish quarterback Gabe Lee rushed in for an 16-yard score, and threw an 11-yard TD pass to Steven Heye for a 28-7 halftime lead.

Alec Kimble put the Crusaders on the board in the second quarter, scoring on a 70-yard touchdown pass from Connor McCormick. Eastside pushed its deficit to two touchdowns, 28-14, to start the third quarter when McCormick found Luke Nelson for a 21-yard touchdown pass.

O’Dea running back Keenan Forch helped slam the door for the Irish scoring on runs of 79 and 40 yards. Lee also ran in another score from 15 yards out.

Eastside dropped to 2-2 in league and 3-4 overall. The Crusaders play at Seattle Prep (3-1, 5-2) at 7 p.m., Thursday. An Eastside Catholic win will likely force a three-way tie for second with Prep and Bainbridge. A loss could drop EC to fourth in the Mountain division.
