The Skyline football team will host a 7-on-7 passing tournament and lineman skills competition labeled “Skills and Drills on the Hill” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this Saturday and Sunday at Skyline High School.

The event will feature teams from 21 Washington high schools. Typically, each school will bring 20 skilled players for the passing competition. Several schools will also bring lineman, who will compete for a trophy in the Lineman Challenge — an event consisting of a bench press, tire throw, truck push, agility course and a tug of war.

Four area teams — Skyline, Eastlake, Issaquah and Eastside Catholic — will participate in the event. Other schools competing include: Archbishop Murphy, Bellevue, Bethel, Bonney Lake, Ellensburg, Evergreen, Glacier Peak, Graham Kapowsin, Inglemoor, Interlake, Kamiak, Kentwood, Mercer Island, Meridian, Mount Tahoma, Mount Lake Terrace and Wilson.

The passing tournament will be in a round-robin format with teams playing five to six games each day.

The community is invited to come out and watch. Skyline Gridiron Club will provide food and drink both days. In addition, tournament T-shirts will be available for sale. The Gridiron Club will host an online auction live on site, www.skylinegridiron.com for interested individuals to bid on their favorite Spartan items.
