Four from Issaquah-Sammamish win Regional soccer title with Eastside FC | Community sports news

The team captured the title and will head to Kansas for a national tournament.

Four Issaquah-Sammamish area athletes helped their Eastside FC soccer team to a Regional championship and spot in the national tournament in Kansas next month with a Regional title in Hawaii.

The team began the tournament with a 3-0 win over the state champions from Alaska before recording a pair of draws to finish pool play 1-0-2, which was good enough to move on to the quarterfinal round.

It was a team from Colorado waiting in the quarters, but Eastside FC scored the only goal of the game to advance with a 1-0 win. The team came back from that win with a 2-1 decision in the semi-finals before a 3-0 win over a Utah squad in the championship match.

“The girls got stronger as the week went on and with each game their confidence grew,” coach Tom Bialek said in a statement.

Local players included: Kaylene Pang (Issaquah), Molly Monroe (Skyline), Alexa Kirton (Skyline), Cameron Tingey (Skyline).
