Issaquah boys win Liberty Invite, girls second | Prep sports news

The Eagles finished in front on the boys side, and won a host of championships on the girls side as well

A host of top-five finishes and a win from senior Caleb Pearson in the javelin throw helped the Issaquah boys to the win at the Liberty Invite, six points in front of second place Yelm.

Pearson’s throw of 160 feet, five inches, was well in front of second place Sebastian Ramierez of Newport.

Ray Littles and Jake Nienhuis were second and third respectively in the 100 meters, while Jason Crandall was fourth in the 200. Nienhuis and Crandall were second and third in the 400, and Caleb Walin was third in the 800. Kenny Schrag finished second in the 1600 and 3200.

The girls were second for the Eagles, with Bella Foos winning the 200 meters in 26.3 and Amanda Chalfant taking the 400 in 1:00.02.

Calya Seligman won the 1600 for Issaquah, and the Eagles also took the 800 and 1600 meter relays.

Mack Wieburg rounded out the winners with a win in the high jump.

Issaquah hosts a KingCo dual meet with Garfield Thursday at 4 p.m.
