Issaquah boys win Oregon Les Schwab Holiday Tournament

The Issaquah boys basketball team finished 2011 with a bang on Friday, beating one of Oregon's top teams, Western Albany, 61-55 for the Oregon Les Schwab Holiday Tournament Championship.

The Eagles battled back and forth with the Bulldogs before Ryan Sexton’s three-pointer gave Issaquah a five-point lead with 1:15 left to go.

Brian Watson and Nick Price hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to seal the victory over the fifth-ranked 5A team in Oregon.

Sexton led the Eagles with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. He had four 3-pointers.

Price had 13 and five rebounds and Fletcher Martin had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Issaquah beat GP Vanier (British Columbia), 77-33, in the first round, then defeated host school Summit, Ore., 71-61. The Eagles are 9-1 overall headed into Tuesday’s game with Garfield (6-2).
