Issaquah, Eastside Catholic boys in state semifinals; State champ girls lead All-Conference honorees | Prep sports news

Scores, highlights and updates from prep sports in Issaquah and Sammamish

Issaquah’s boys lacrosse team dominated its quarterfinal game against Emerald Ridge-Puyallup, winning 17-1 and earning a spot in the semifinals against Tahoma tonight.

Zach Fritz paced the attack in the quarterfinal victory, scoring four goals as the Eagles led 5-1 after the first quarter and 11-1 at halftime.

A win in Tacoma would send Issaquah to the title game for the first time since they last captured the state crown in 2009.

The Eagles have won five straight entering the semifinals, and did not face Tahoma during the regular season.

EC set for semifinal date with Wolverines

Eastside Catholic also kept its season alive and its perfect record in tact last week, beating 2013 state runner-up Mercer Island 19-11 to reach the semifinals.

The Crusaders met a familiar nemesis May 28 in Bellevue. The two-time defending state champion Wolverines have ended EC’s season each of the past two years in the state tournament.

Colin MacIlvennie led the way for the EC attack in the quarterfinal win. The Maryland-bound senior scored six goals and added an assist, as the Crusaders also got five goals from Blake Lee.
