Eastlake blanks Newport

Eastlake pounced on Newport starter Kaitlin Sahlinger early on its way to a key 7-0 victory Tuesday afternoon.

The Wolves were led at the plate by Nicole Guptil and Lexi Jaeger, who both went 2-for-3 with two RBI apiece. Kelsey Dempsey was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Guptil also picked up the shutout in the pitching circle as Eastlake improved to 7-0 in league and 11-1 overall.

Holy Names rolls over Eastside

Holy Names scored early and often Tuesday afternoon, beating Eastside Catholic 13-0.

The Crusaders managed just five hits off starter Kaitlin Cappetto.

Shelby McCannel was 4-for-5 at the plate for the Cougars and Sylvie Thomas added a solo home run.

Eastside Catholic fell to 0-6 in league and 0-8 overall.
