Issaquah seventh grade hoops squad wins state title

Local squad brings home hardware from Spokane.

The Issaquah Select seventh grade Gold boys basketball team captured first place at the 2018 Washington Middle School Basketball Championship in Spokane on March 18.

The tournament, which featured a plethora of teams competing in their respective divisions between fourth and eighth grade, took place from March 14-18. The Issaquah Gold defeated the Skyline Silver, 54-51, in the championship matchup. Issaquah Gold guard Mark Longo nailed a 3-pointer, lifting his team to a victory. The championship squad was coached by Brian Johnson. Members of the Issaquah Gold roster consisted of Toby Keeler, Will Stroh, Wyatt Dow, Bennett Olujic, Tate Smith, Kolby Benson, Mark Longo, Chase Dietiker, William Kodosky, Brett Sanders and Spencer Blumenthal.
