Hopes of a state championship run came to an abrupt end for the Issaquah girls soccer team Wednesday in the opening round of the 4A tournament.

Facing third-ranked Todd Beamer on the road, the Eagles failed to muster any offense, falling 4-0.

The Titans struck twice in the first half — on an unassisted goal from Jenny Hoefel in the 11th minute and on Autumn Talney’s penalty kick in the 36th minute. Hoefel added another score in the 56th minute and Breanna Straus netted a final score in the 74th minute.

Issaquah, which finished second in the KingCo 4A this season, ended its season with a 9-6-2 record.

Beamer moved on to face Gig Harbor in the state quarterfinals.

This was the Eagles seventh trip to the state tournament in the last eight years. Their only absence came last season.
