Issaquah swimmers finish sixth in KingCo championships

Issaquah didn't have one swimmer finish in the top three at Saturday's KingCo championships, but the Eagles still had a strong showing in the 18-team meet.

Issaquah didn’t have one swimmer finish in the top three at Saturday’s KingCo championships, but the Eagles still had a strong showing in the 18-team meet.

Issaquah finished sixth overall with 287 team points — just one back of Garfield (288) for fifth place.

Mercer Island ran away with the meet at the University of Washington’s Husky Pool, totaling 840 team points.

The top 4A team, Newport, finished second with 394 points.

Skyline placed eighth on Saturday with 263 team points. The Spartans had one individual champion in diver Max Levy. He finished first with a score of 399.70 — over 40 points higher than the second-place finisher.

Eastlake earned an 11th place finish, but had two individual championships.

Edward Kim earned a new meet record time of 51.88 seconds in the 100 butterfly and another state-qualifying mark with his first-place time of 1 minute, 2.70 seconds in the 100 breaststroke.

The 4A District 2 meet takes place Saturday at the Juanita pool.

EC’s Hallowell takes two more Metro titles

Eastside Catholic’s Ethan Hallowell capture two Metro titles Saturday at Lakeside, winning the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle.

The All-American swimmer also helped the 200 yard free relay of Joe Mahan, Matt Leist and Braden Wolgamott place third, and the 200 medley relay of Max Mueller, Mahan and Leist place fifth.

Team scores and times were not reported.
