Issaquah volleyball rolls over Newport for KingCo 4A tournament title

In a near identical performance from last week's regular-season finale, the Issaquah volleyball team defeated Newport handily Thursday night — 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 — to capture the KingCo 4A tournament championship and a top seed in the 4A state tournament.

In a near identical performance from last week’s regular-season finale, the Issaquah volleyball team defeated Newport handily Thursday night — 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 — to capture the KingCo 4A tournament championship and a top seed in the 4A state tournament.

The Eagles were led by senior Rachel Roeder’s 21 kills. Fellow senior outside hitter Sarah Hanna had 10 kills and three aces, while senior setter Riley Sorenson dished up 35 assists.

The Eagles, who are now 17-0, begin the state tournament Nov. 11 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. Newport also advanced to the state tournament, while third-place Woodinville is playing the No. 3 team from WesCo this weekend for District 1/2’s final state berth.
