Lakeside baseball off to hot start

The Lakeside Senior Legion baseball team, featuring players from Issaquah, Skyline and Newport high schools, is off to strong start to its summer season.

The local group of sluggers won its first five games before losing the second game of a double-header on Sunday. Lakeside beat Taylor Baseball 7-4 in game one, before falling 6-2 in game two.

Shane Yarnell earned the victory in game one, giving up three runs through six innings of work. Trace Tam Sing was 3-for-4, with two RBI, Devin O’Donnell 2-for-3 with a run scored and Shawn Ellis was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Taylor, which features players from 16 different high school teams, jumped out to a fast start in game two, scoring six runs over the first three innings off of Lakeside starter Jared Fisher. Dan Altchech and Colin Hering were 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece for Lakeside. O’Donnell was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Lakeside (5-1) plays its next game against Bellevue Honda at 7:30 p.m., Friday at Husky Ballpark.
