Lakeside goes 3-2 in Brandy Pugh tournament

Lakeside lost its final game 11-7 against Red Lion; a big six-run inning for Red Lion in the fourth proved to be the difference as Lakeside couldn’t close the gap after a 9-3 deficit, despite scoring a run every inning except the second.

Issaquah’s Shane Yarnell took the loss for Lakeside, pitching three innings and allowing three runs. Sean Penberthy went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in.

Chaffey Baseball won its fifth Brandy Pugh title, defeating Red Lion 9-3.

Lakeside plays Thursday at Husky Ballpark against Chaffey Baseball in preparation for the Senior Legion Super Regional, which kicks off July 18 at Newport.

Issaquah’s Spencer Rogers leads the club in nearly every hitting category, including average (.506), hits (40), RBIs (31), home runs (5) and stolen bases (5). Newport’s Trace Tam Sing is a co-leader with Rogers in runs, having scored 28.

Newport pitcher Colin Hering leads the team in strikeouts (37) and ERA (0.61).
