The local group of 15 and under players won their first three games in dominating fashion. They defeated Oak Harbor 13-2 on Thursday, Arlington 10-2 on Friday, and Bellingham 12-2 on Saturday. Lakeside fell 6-3 to Woodinville in Sunday’s district championship, but earned the second seed to the state tournament, which begins Saturday, Aug. 1 in Moses Lake.

Connor Gilchrist went 8-for-14 in the four games, including a 3-for-4, four RBI performance against Bellingham. Jake Backamus had six hits in the four-game stretch, including a 3-for-4, two RBI performance against Oak Harbor. Blake Miller was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the victory over Arlington.

Pitcher Matt Lunde allowed just two hits and struck out nine in four innings of work against Oak Harbor; Jimmy Sinatro struck out eight and allowed just three hits and one run in his five innings of work against Arlington, and Andrew Kemmerer struck out five and allowed four hits in the win over Bellingham.
