Lakeside Recovery baseball moves to 2-0 in Brandy Pugh tourney

The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team improved to 2-0 in its home tournament Thursday night, beating the Twin City Titans, 8-3.

The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team improved to 2-0 in its home tournament Thursday night, beating the Twin City Titans, 8-3.

Down 3-2, Lakeside scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and never looked back.

Mike Paulson, a 2010 Issaquah graduate and current Walla Walla Community College player, went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Current Issaquah players Andrew Kemmerer and Brandon Mahovlich also had big days. Kemmerer went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI and Mahovlich pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one earned and seven hits, while striking out four.

Lakeside, which improved to 18-16 overall, faces Bankers Baseball at 8 p.m., tonight at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.

They play two-time defending champion Chaffey Baseball at 8 p.m., Saturday at Bannerwood and Pacific Tech Construction at 2 p.m., Sunday at Bellevue College.

The top two teams from the 12-team tournament face off Monday at 7 p.m., for the tournament championship at Bannerwood.The third and fourth place teams play at 4 p.m. in the consolation game.

Lakeside is currently one of four teams without a loss. The last time Lakeside won its own tournament was in 1995.
