Lakeside Senior Legion wins four of five at Vancouver tourney

The Lakeside Senior baseball team won four of five games July 3-6 at the Curt Daniels Memorial tournament in Vancouver, Wash.

The Lakeside Senior baseball team won four of five games July 3-6 at the Curt Daniels Memorial tournament in Vancouver, Wash.

The team capped off the tournament with a 8-5 victory over Chaffey Baseball Club, knotting the record at 2-2 between the two teams.

Kyle Sutherland (Issaquah) was 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Mario Sanelli (Issaquah) was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kyle Vanderboegh (Issaquah) earned the victory, going a complete seven innings, allowing four earned runs.

Lakeside earned another win Tuesday night, beating the Seattle Blaze 23-4 in five innings.

Jared Lemke (Skyline) earned the victory. Spencer Rogers (Issaquah) led Lakeside at the plate, going an impressive 5-for-5 with three doubles, a triple, three RBI and five runs scored. Ned Jones (Newport) was 4-for-5 with three RBI and Sutherland was 3-for-4 with five RBI. Lakeside improved its record to 20-7 with the wins. The team is currently hosting the Brandy Pugh Memorial tournament at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue with games at 8 p.m. tonight against Kennewick, 8 p.m. tomorrow against Vancouver, 2 p.m. on Sunday against Red Lion and championship games set for 4 and 7 p.m. on Monday.

Lakeside-Skyline improves to 19-8

The Junior Legion Lakeside-Skyline team earned victories in two of its three games this week, splitting a doubleheader with Triple Play Baseball Club on Sunday with a 5-4 win and 4-3 loss. The team earned another victory on Monday, beating Lakeside-Sammamish, 11-1.

Lakeside-Skyline improved to 19-8 with its wins. Hitting leaders this summer include: Jake Knecht (.487), Jake Shannon (.391), Sean Penberthy (.388), Anthony Dematteo (.388) and Jim Carnes (.355). Peyton Harrod and Tony Beattie led the team in pitching. Both have 4-0 records with 2.72 and 0.37 ERAs, respectively.

Lakeside-Skyline is scheduled to play its next game at 6 p.m., tonight against the Legends at Redmond’s Hartman Park.
