Lakeside Seniors remain undefeated

The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team kept its record flawless through Monday, improving to 8-0 with four more victories.

Lakeside picked up its most recent victory on Monday night, beating Bankers Baseball 9-0 at Bellevue Community College.

Lakeside pitchers Jacob Kemmerer and Jared Lemke combined for a four-hit shutout — Lakeside’s third of the season.

Catcher Kyle Sutherland led Lakeside at the plate, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored. Colin Hering was 1-for-2 with two RBI and Spencer Rogers added a double.

Lakeside, which features players from Skyline, Issaquah and Newport high schools, beat Wave Baseball 8-2 on June 13, defeated Lux Homes 12-2 last Saturday and the Skagit Sox 21-3 on Sunday.

Lakeside faced Chaffey on Wednesday and hosts Garfield at Bannerwood Park at 5 p.m. today. Lakeside hosts Skagit in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. tomorrow and hosts Chaffey at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The team is then off to San Diego June 26 through 29 for a tournament.

Lakeside-Skyline wins three straight

The Lakeside-Skyline Junior Legion team improved its record to 8-4 over the past week, winning its last three games.

Lakeside-Skyline defeated Lakeside-Newport twice on Saturday, 7-3 and 7-6, and beat Garfield 5-0 on Monday.

Anthony Dematteo was a combined 4-for-8 with two RBI in Saturday’s victories. He also took the mound in the second game to earn the victory.

Pitcher Tony Beattie dominated Monday’s game, going five innings, only allowing two hits along with five strikeouts. Jake Shannon was 3-for-3, Jake Knecht was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Shawn Ellis had a two-run triple.

Lakeside-Skyline begins a three-day tournament at Spokane’s Central Valley High School at 3 p.m. today.

Lakeside-Issaquah stays on a roll

The Lakeside-Issaquah Junior Legion team defeated Mt. Rainier 4-3 last Friday and split a doubleheader with the Seattle Bombers on Saturday, winning the first game 5-1 and dropping the second 11-5.

Lakeside-Issaquah moved to 7-3 in the early season. The team is scheduled to host a doubleheader against the Redmond Bombers starting at noon tomorrow.
