Eastlake unbeaten heading into Newport match

Newport has been the class of the state so far during the young golf season, already carding a team score of 192 in a win over Skyline that set the conference scoring mark.

But Eastlake will take momentum and a host of talented young players to Newcastle next Monday, after opening the season 3-0 with wins over Bothell, Garfield and Woodinville.

Freshmen Ashley Fitzgibbons and Maddie Nelson have been added to a team that already had state qualifier Jamie Midkiff, a junior, and each of the three have played a role thus far for coach Pat Bangasser.

Fitzgibbons took medalist honors in a home match with Bothell, shooting a 36, and Midkiff has also cracked 40 in a match, shooting a 37 at Jefferson Park in a win over Garfield.
