Eastlake linebacker enjoys team camaraderie on the gridiron

Eastlake Wolves senior linebacker Eric Uhlar thoroughly enjoys relentlessly pursuing opposing teams’ quarterbacks.

Uhlar, who has played a pivotal role in Eastlake’s 6-3 overall record thus far, said he wants to see his squad go on a deep playoff run. The Wolves advanced to the Class 4A quarterfinals in 2013.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity for us to play together for as long as we can. For us seniors it’s our last year of playing football. I want us to make the most of it and go as far as I can with my buds (buddies) on the team,” Uhlar said.

The Wolves have won six of their past eight contests since suffering a loss in the season opener against the Bothell Cougars.

“I think we struggled to find our identity at the beginning of the season. We have a better feel for our footing now and understand who we are and what we’re going to do,” Uhlar said. “I definitely think we have the best athletes in the KingCo (league), if not the state of Washington.”

Uhlar said Wolves skill players — Jeffery Feinglas, Mark Whitley, Dalton Napier and Michael Nelson — are top flight at their respective positions on the field.

“We just play to our strengths, which is what we need to do. We’re finally starting to get turnovers on defense,” he said.

Recently the Issaquah Reporter had an opportunity to ask Uhlar a few questions about his life away from the football field.
