Volleyball

Eastlake splits first two matches

The Eastlake volleyball team split its first two regular season matches, beating Bellevue 3-1 on Sept. 11 and losing 3-2 to South Kitsap on Tuesday. The Wolves defeated Bellevue 25-9, 14-25, 25-23 and 25-19. Emilee Ringel had 34 assists and Lauren Magnus 16 kills, 14 digs and four aces. Eastlake lost 25-5, 24-26, 20-25, 25-19 and 12-15. Magnus had 18 kills and 10 digs and Alyssa Chalston added 10 kills and three blocks. Ringel had her second straight 34-assist performance.

Issaquah routes Liberty

After losing its first match of the season, the Issaquah volleyball team bounced back Sept. 11, beating Liberty in three games, 25-18, 25-12 and 25-10.

Alyssa Schultz led the Eagles with 12 kills, while Rachel Roeder and Sarah Hanna contributed eight and seven, respectively.

Spartans fall to Bishop Blanchet

Skyline fell 3-1 to non-league Bishop Blanchet last week, losing 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19. Alex Petroff led the Spartans with five kills and 10 digs. Sam Sanghvi had 18 assists.

Soccer

Issaquah blows past Tualatin

Issaquah dominated Tualatin (Oregon), beating them 5-1 on Saturday at Eastlake High School.

Kristen Marris scored two goals in the victory, and Jaci Belur added three assists for the Eagles. Molly Gottlieb, Lindsay Stoll and Kaley Allison all added scores.

Issaquah battled to a 0-0 tie with Seattle Prep on Sept. 10.

The Eagles sat at 2-1-1 headed into last night’s game (after Reporter deadline) with rival Skyline.

Skyline splits non-league games

The Spartans battled Bellevue to a 0-0 tie, despite outshooting the Wolverines 17-4. Sammamish rival Eastlake defeated the Spartans 3-1 in a non-league contest on Saturday. Kiara Williams scored the Spartans’ lone goal in the 41st minute on an assist from Emily Anderson. Skyline was 1-1-1 headed into last night’s contest with Issaquah.

Tennis

Spartans wins big over Saints

The Spartans defeated non-league Interlake 8-1 on Sept. 11. Tyler VanGrunsven, Ryan Clark, Nikita Nosov, Daniel Hadi, Nasi Teodasiadis and Alex Hu earned singles wins, while Tylaer VanGrunsven and Ryan Clark; Daniel Hadi and Andrew Johnson and Jesse Park and Ben Huang won their doubles matches.

Eastlake edged by Interlake

The Wolves lost a close match with non-league Interlake Tuesday afternoon, 5-4. Graham Brew, Paul Mart and Evan Smith earned singles wins for Eastlake.

Swimming

Skyline nab four state marks, beat Interlake

The Spartans won eight individual events, three relays and reached four state qualifying marks on their way to a 136-47 victory over Interlake on Tuesday. Winners included: Andie Taylor (50 free, 25.08*), Meghan O’Keefe (200 IM, 2:15.28*), Nina Zook (100 fly, 1:00.46*), Toni Scarcello (200 free, 2:16.53; 500 free, 6:15.93); Brittni Battaglia (100 free, 1:00.12) and Jessie Dart (100 breast, 1:16.34). Kelsey Kosenkranius took first in diving with a score of 188.30. The 200 medley relay of Taylor, O’Keefe, Zook and Kaitlyn Mark also took earned a state qualifying mark of 1:54.90.
