The Sammamish Little League 9 and 10 year old softball All-Star team finished its season in Asotin at the state tournament July 17, falling 6-5 to the District 4 champions from Cascade Little League.

Sammamish bounced back from an opening round loss to win three straight games, including a 13-4 victory over District 6 winner Battle Ground July 16 to keep the season alive.

Stilly Valley, the District 1 champion and team that beat Sammamish in the first round, won the tournament with an undefeated record and 11-2 title game win over Cascade.

Lakeside Senior Legion loses in Sub-Regional

A promising season for the Lakeside Recovery Senior Legion baseball team ended in unceremonious fashion July 20 at Carlon Park in Selah, as Mason won a 7-4 game to bounce Lakeside from the tournament.

Mason beat Lakeside 3-1 in the first game of the tournament, before the team of Newport, Issaquah and Skyline players came back to beat the Yakima Beatles 15-7.
