Sammamish’s Pan makes cut at U.S. Open | Community sports news

One of four amateurs to make the cut, Cheng-Tsung Pan finished in a tie for 45th place.

University of Washington golfer and Sammamish resident Cheng-Tsung Pan finished in a tie with seven other golfers for 45th place at the 113th U.S. Open, shooting a final round 76 to end his tournament at 15 strokes over par.

Pan, one of four amateurs to make the cut at Marion Golf Club in Ardmore, Penn., shot 72 each of the first two rounds. His finish was the second highest for an amateur, behind only the University of California’s Michael Kim who finished in a tie for 17th at 10 over par.

Justin Rose captured the trophy at even par, one stroke ahead of Jason Day.
