Brandon Fischer and Zach Liddle provided solo home runs to boost the offense while Travis Snider scattered six hits and allowed just the one run.

Skyline (11-10), the No. 3 seed from the KingCo Crest, will now play No. 1 seeded Newport (16-4) at 7 p.m., Monday at Woodinville High School. The winner of that game will advance to the league championship against either Bothell or Inglemoor and will earn an automatic state berth.

Bothell ekes past Issaquah

The top-seeded team from the KingCo Crown, Bothell, squeezed past Issaquah 2-0 Saturday in the opening round of the KingCo 4A tournament.

The Cougars pushed across their first run in the bottom of the first inning when Mitchel Viydo’s groundout scored Kevin McShane. John Mercer added an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Issaquah starter Brandon Mahovlich allowed just five hits, one walk and the two earned runs over six complete innings.

The Eagles had four hits against Bothell starter Brian McAffee, who went the complete seven innings.

Issaquah (8-11) now faces Redmond (14-7) in a loser out game at 4 p.m., Monday at Inglemoor High School.

Issaquah advances to next round

Issaquah defeated Redmond 3-0 in Saturday’s opening round of the KingCo 4A tournament to advance to the next round.

Zach Lawless put the Eagles on the board first in the 33rd minute, scoring on an assist from Michael Roberts. Akash Ramachandran padded the lead in the 44th minute via an assist from Alex Shane. Nick Smith added an insurance goal in the 56th minute on another assist from Roberts.

Issaquah will face Garfield at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10 at Eastlake High School. The winner will advance to host the WesCo No. 3 team on Saturday for the final state playoff berth. The loser is out.

Tuesday’s game is a rematch of the May 3 regular-season finale that saw Issaquah rally from behind for a 2-1 victory.

BOYS LACROSSE

Issaquah nabs control of second place

Matt O’Neil scored two goals Friday to lead Issaquah to a 6-2 victory over Bellevue.

The win moved the Eagles into sole possession of second place in the Northeast Conference.

Issaquah held a 3-2 lead after three quarters before scoring three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to lock up the victory.

Issaquah (12-5) faces Skyline (10-7) at 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 11 in Sammamish.

Eastside Catholic edges Eastlake

Eastside Catholic edged out Plateau rival Eastlake Friday night, 11-7.

No stats were reported for Eastside Catholic.

Eastlake was led by Brian Quick’s two goals and two assists. Kohl Hedlund and Patrick Keogh added two toals apiece, while Avery Harks had 12 saves in goal.

The Crusaders improved to 12-5 with the win, while Eastlake dropped to 10-6-1.

Eastside Catholic wraps up season with win

Eastside Catholic defeated Roosevelt 15-8 on Friday night to close out its season.

The defending Division II state champions ended their first season in Division I with a 5-6 record.

No Eastside Catholic stats were reported from Friday’s win.

Adrienne Leonard led the Roughriders with three goals.

Bainbridge hands Issaquah loss

Jaclyn Biggers scored nine goals Friday as Bainbridge defeated Issaquah 18-8 and concluded a perfect regular season.

Katie Mincin had four goals and four groundballs and sister Emily Mincin scored two goals, had two ground balls and 10 draw controls as the Eagles moved to 6-4-1 overall.

Eastlake rallies to beat Skyline

Eastlake scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Skyline 14-11 Friday afternoon.

The Spartans held a 9-7 lead after six complete innings, before the Wolves’ bats erupted.

Sophie Palenscar was 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Eastlake.

Morgan Conover and Lexie Jaeger also had RBI hits for the Wolves, who moved to 9-1 in league and 14-2 overall.

Lindsey Nicholson led the Spartans, going 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and four RBI. Charlotte Zhao added a two-run double. Skyline dropped to 3-9 in league and 3-12 overall.
