The Spartans and Crusaders begin state play Friday in Lacey.

Skyline opens the 4A state volleyball tournament Friday at 9:45 a.m. against Emerald Ridge at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, after finishing the 4A KingCo tournament with a 3-2 title match loss to Newport.

The winner moves to a 6:45 p.m. game against the winner of another first round match between Camas and Mead while the loser will play at Timberline High School in the loser’s bracket.

Eastside Catholic opens the 3A tournament against Oak Harbor at 11:45 a.m. on court three at Saint Martin’s, and will face either Bishop Blanchet or Southridge in the second round.

The Crusaders finished the Metro League tournament with a 3-2 win over Holy Names after falling to Mercer Island in the semi-finals.

EC won seven straight to close the regular season and begin the league tournament before falling the eventual district champ Islanders.

The state volleyball tournaments continue Saturday with the semi-finals and finals, as well as consolation bracket matches. The 3A and 4A state title matches are set for 8:15 p.m.
