Jason Twaddle put the Spartans in front on an assist from Sean McDonald in the 32nd minute but Roosevelt’s Sam Carpenter scored the equalizer in the 58th minute and the Roughriders prevailed on penalty kicks to take the top seed to state.

Issaquah 2 Inglemoor 1

The Eagles kept hope of a state tournament berth alive with the win over Inglemoor and will face the third place finisher from WesCo for the final spot in the 16 team state field.

The Spartans did not drop a set in any of the singles or doubles matches in the win over Roosevelt.

Three from area nominated for U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Skyline quarterback Max Browne and Bellevue teammates Sean Constantine and Myles Jack have all received nominations for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which takes place January 5 in San Antonio.

400 nominees from around the country will be cut to 90 for the game.

The three are joined by six other players from Washington: Kahlil Dawson, Graham-Kapowsin; Tere Calloway, Seattle Prep; Sefo Liufau, Bellarmine Prep; Sammie Long, Lakes; Danny Mattingly, Mead; Tatum Taylor, O’Dea
