Skyline girls win in OT, Browne tosses touchdown in All-American game | Prep sports scoreboard

Skyline and Eastlake picked up wins in girls hoops while the Eagles won a game on the boys side.

Boys basketball

Redmond 59 Eastlake 56

The Wolves had an early lead in the rivalry game but were unable to contain Redmond’s Kyle Sawtell, who finished with a game-high 30 points in the 59-56 win.

Brandon Lester led the way for Eastlake with 18 and Mike Hwang added 12 more.

Skyline 41 Ballard 49

John Verduin put in 21 points to lead Ballard to the eight point win over Skyline.

Jonah Eastern finished with a game-high 23 for the Spartans in the loss.

Issaquah 53 Roosevelt 49

Ty Gibson and Brian Watson each scored 17 points as Issaquah held off Roosevelt 53-49.

A seven point advantage in the final period gave the Eagles the win.

Rainier Beach 65 Eastside Catholic 50

The Crusaders got 21 points from Austin Soukup and 11 more from Mandrell Worthy but were victimized by an explosive Beach run in the middle quarters.

Shaqquan Anderson had a game-high 35 for the Vikings in the win.

Girls basketball

Redmond 39 Eastlake 55

Maggie Douglas’ 20 points paced the Wolves in the lopsided win over rival Redmond.

Ellie Worner scored 13 and Marijka Vanderschaaf added 10 more for Eastlake.

Skyline 54 Ballard 53 (OT)

Haley Smith scored 20 points and her Spartans needed each one as they escaped with an overtime win over Ballard.

Rachel Shim added 10 more and Bryn deVita scored eight for Skyline in the win.

Issaquah 40 Roosevelt 41

A late run by Roosevelt ended the hopes of an Issaquah win despite a game high 19 points from Aimee Brakken.

Eastside Catholic 79 Rainier Beach 40

Lauren Johnson led three Eastside Catholic scorers in double figures with 30 points while Ashley Blanton added 16 and Audrey Menz scored 14 more in the win for the Crusaders.

Browne accounts for scores in All-American game

Max Browne tossed a 16-yard score to Derrick Griffin of Rosenburg, Tex., and connected with DeSean Smith of Lake Charles, Lou. on the ensuing two-point conversion in the West team’s 15-8 loss to the East in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.

Browne, who was the U.S. Army Player of the Year, finished 4-7 passing for 52 yards.
