Skyline places third in KingCo swim meet

The Spartans earned 426 team points, trailing champion Newport (603) and second-place Mercer Island (560.5).

Katie Kinnear helped the Spartans to two championships, leading off the winning 200 medley relay and setting a new meet record of 52.41 seconds in the 100 free — more than a second faster than the previous record of 53.70. Kinnear also finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.50).

Skyline’s Stephanie Munoz grabbed a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:00.23), Maria Voldkevich was third in the 100 butterfly (59.95), while the medley relay of Kinnear, Nina Zook, Jessie Dart and Volodkevich was first in 1:52.48.

Issaquah finished fifth overall with 286 points.

The Eagles’ highest finish was a third-place in the 200 medley relay. Stacy Maier, Kellie Langan, Kayla Flaten, Marit Borth finished in 1:54.20.

Eastlake was ninth overall with 239 points.

The Wolves were led by Kara Beauchamp’s first-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:16.94). Mackenzie Rands finished second in diving with 396 points.

KingCo swim teams continue with action this Friday and Saturday in the District 2 meet at the University of Washington Pavilion Pool.
