Skyline completes memorable season at state tourney

The Skyline Spartans 2016 season came to a close at the Class 4A state softball tournament in Spokane. The Spartans captured a 6-0 win against Curtis in the first round but suffered a 6-3 loss to Snohomish in the quarterfinals. The Spartans rebounded with a 7-5 win against Central Valley but suffered a 6-4 loss to Jackson in a loser-out consolation contest. Skyline finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 19-7.

Spartans players earn awards

Skyline Spartans ace pitcher Caroline Bowman earned the KingCo 4A most valuable player award for her stellar performance in the pitching circle during the 2016 season. Bowman also earned first-team all KingCo team honors as a pitcher. Skyline outfielder Molly Spaniac captured first-team all KingCo honors as well. Lauren Lo was named to the second-team all KingCo squad.

LACROSSE

Issaquah players nab coveted honors

The Issaquah Eagles boys lacrosse team, who advanced to the state semifinals this past season, saw two of its players be named as 2016 Washington State Boys All-Americans. Eagles’ senior midfielder Jake Lindahl and senior forward Ryan Egland garnered All-American honors. Egland scored 37 goals during the regular season. Lindahl recorded 45 goals during the regular season as well. Lindahl scored a team-high 10 goals in the state tournament. Eastside Catholic’s Bryce Atwater and Skyline’s PJ Cox also were named All-Americans for their stellar play during the 2016 season.
