The Spartans responded with 28 unanswered points to defeat Jackson 49-24, improving to 5-2 overall.

Quarterback Max Browne aided Skyline with a personal best performance. The junior completed 19 of 25 passes for 347 yards and six touchdowns — one TD shy of the school record held by current BYU quarterback Jake Heaps.

Trailing 24-21 in the third quarter, Browne hit Trevor Barney, Nic Sblendorio and Matt Sinatro for touchdowns.

Running back Damien Greene (13 carries, 139 yards) added another touchdown.

Taggart Krueger led the Spartans in receiving with five catches for 176 yards and two TDs.

Skyline, which amassed 532 total yards of offense, faces Eastlake (3-0, 7-0) at 7 p.m., next Friday in a battle for the KingCo Crest title.

Eastside Catholic overcomes slow start to beat Blanchet

Eastside Catholic recovered from a slow start Friday night, battling from behind to earn a key Metro victory over Blanchet, 28-14.

Trailing 6-3 at the half, the Crusaders erupted for 25 unanswered points — 22 of which came in the third quarter.

Chevy Walker got things started in the second half with a 3-yard TD run. Elisha Pa ‘aga added a 57-yard TD run and quarterback Trey Reynolds ran in another long TD from 52 yards.

Reynolds had nine carries for 169 yards and completed 5 of 8 passes for 38 yards. Pa ‘aga carried the ball four times for 78 yards and Walker had 14 carries for 41 yards.

Danny Omiliak also connected on field goals of 19 and 28 yards as Eastside Catholic improved to 1-2 in league and 4-3 overall. The Crusaders close out the regular season on Thursday at Bainbridge (1-2, 4-3).
