Wolves defeat Spartans in quarterfinals

The South Kitsap Wolves defeated the Skyline Spartans 7-3 in the Class 4A state quarterfinals on May 23 at Everett Memorial Stadium. Skyline registered a 3-0 win against Snohomish in the first round of the state playoffs on May 23. Skyline finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 14-11. The Spartans finished the season strong, winning five of their final seven games.

Issaquah girls track team wins district championship in convincing fashion

The Issaquah Eagles girls track team compiled 116.5 points capturing first place at the Class 4A Wesco/KingCo Bi-District Championships on May 23 at Lake Stevens High School. Snohomish finished in a distant second place with 78 points. Eagles girls athletes taking top spots included Nikki Stephens (100-meter-dash second place, 400-meter-dash first place), Bella Foos (200-meter-dash, third place), Elise Burdette (400-meter-dash, second place), Sami Corman (800-meter-run first place, 1600-meter-run first place), Cayla Seligman (3200-meter run, third place), Claire Wilfong (high jump, third place). The Eagles 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay and 1600-meter relay teams all nabbed first place as well. Ray Littles collected a second place in the 100-meter dash.

Eastlake athletes perform well at district championships in Lake Stevens

A multitude of Eastlake Wolves athletes performed admirably at the Class 4A Wesco/KingCo Bi-District Championships on May 23 in Lake Stevens. Nathan Pixler collected a first place finish in the 1600-meter run, Brooke Manson nabbed second place in the 800-meter run, Ellie Woerner clocked a third place in the 100-meter hurdles, Pia Richards finished in fourth place in the 3200-meter run, Brandon Nalaui earned fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles and Stile Wreggelsworth nabbed fourth place in the 400-meter dash.

Skyline sends bevy of athletes to state meet this weekend in Tacoma

Skyline sprinter Lane Mallula cruised to a first place finish in the 100-meter dash and second place in the 200-meter dash at the Class 4A Wesco/KingCo Bi-District Championships on May 23 in Lake Stevens. Vaiva Snapkauskaite earned second place in the shot-put, Elijah Nichols collected third place in discus, Bradley Kim attained third place in triple jump and Jack Welch finished in third place in the 400-meter dash. Brandi Hughes earn second place in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Maizy Brewer collected a fifth place finish in the 3200-meter run.
