Issaquah’s Brittany Tallman, who won medalist honors in every regular-season golf match and took the KingCo tournament title last week, continued her streak of victories Monday.
Tallman took first place at the Sea-King District 2 tournament, shooting a 4-under-par 68 at Kent’s Riverbend Golf Club. The senior had seven birdies in her round and shot 3-under-par on the front nine. She shot 1-under-par on the back nine, which included a birdie on the 18th hole that gave her a one-stroke win over Kristin Tan of Holy Names. Tallman reached the par 5, 478-yard hole in two strokes, knocked a 40-foot putt within three feet and tapped in for birdie.
“Just before she teed off I asked what her goal was — and (she) and I said 71 about the same time — which would have been her low there,” Issaquah coach Tom Bakamus said.
Issaquah finished third overall as a team with 30 points. Holy Names took first with 43, followed by Bainbridge with 30.5.
Tallman will now attempt to defend her 3A state title May 20-21 at Shukshan Golf Course in Bellingham. She won 3A state titles her freshman and junior years. Only one other female golfer in state history has won more than two state titles.
Skyline’s Meaghan Madgett will also go to the state tournament. She finished 16th at the Sea-King tournament, shooting an 87. Issaquah’s Katherine Yoon shot a 92 and finished in 23rd place. She will go to the tournament as a second alternate. Only the top 21 golfers qualified for state.
