Tanner topples opponents at 4A KingCo tourney

Carson Tanner earns an individual title.

It was just another day at the office for Issaquah Eagles 126-pound wrestler Carson Tanner.

Tanner, who finished with a 4-0 record during the 4A KingCo tournament, pinned Skyline’s Cole Turner in the second round of the 126-pound championship match on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School. Tanner led Turner 9-0 before registering the pin at the 3:02 mark of the match. Once Turner chose the down position in the second round, Tanner was confident he would put the match away.

“I knew I could dominate on top. That is my best position. He is pretty good at takedowns but I was able to defend a lot of it,” Tanner said.

Tanner was thrilled to capture the top spot in his weight class this season at the KingCo tourney.

“I got second (place) last year. I got first so I should be in pretty good shape at regionals (with regard to seeding),” Tanner said. “I’m going to just keep practicing hard every day.”
