The Eastlake fastpitch team came overcame a four-run deficit Thursday afternoon to come from behind and beat Juanita, 6-5, in extra innings. The Wolves fell behind 4-0 in the second inning, before rallying for four runs of their own in the fifth inning.

The Rebels took the lead back again in the top of the sixth, but Eastlake tied the score in the bottom half of the inning before taking the game in the eighth.

Stephanie Clay had a three-run triple for the Wolves. Jenna Eggleston went 2-for-2 with two RBI, Nicole Guptil was 3-for-5 with an RBI and Kathryne Staudinger was 3-for-4.

Pitcher Lindsi Augenstein, who took over in the fourth inning, earned the victory. Eastlake improved to 1-0 on the season. The Wolves next face Centralia at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Issaquah slams Mercer Island in girls D-II lacrosse

Issaquah’s Haley Mincin scored six goals and sister Katie Mincin scored five as the Eagles hammered Mercer Island 17–7 Thursday at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island. Teagan Cameron had nine saves for the Eagles.

Eastside Catholic tripped up by non-league Newport

Newport earned a 2-0 victory over Eastside Catholic on Thursday night.

The Knights earned a goal in the 45th minute from Brian Whitney and another goal from Taketo Suzuki on a penalty kick. Adam Dootson recorded the shutout for Newport.

The Crusaders fell to 0-1 on the season. They face non-league Issaquah at 7 p.m., Saturday night.
