The Cougars answered with a 3-yard TD run from Maurice Brown with just over a minute remaining in the game, before Skyline recovered an onside kick to seal the victory.

Skyline took the game’s first lead on a safety after Central Kitsap snapped the ball through the end zone on an attempted punt.

The Cougars answered with a 57-yard TD run from quarterback Brett McDonald and held a 7-2 lead headed to the locker room.

The Spartans recaptured the lead in the third quarter when Browne hit Jordan Simone for a 25-yard TD and followed with a two-point conversion pass to Williams.

Skyline (9-1) hosts Rogers (9-1) next week in the opening round of the 4A state tournament at 7:30 p.m., Friday.
