Williams wins high jump, long jump at Shoreline Invite | Track & field roundup

Skyline senior Kasen Williams earned two first-place finishes in the 75-team Shoreline Invitational on Saturday.

The University of Washington football recruit cleared 6 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump and leapt 23-6 3/4 to win the long jump.

Freshman Brendan Long also earned points for the Spartans, placing eighth in the 1,600 in a time of 4 minutes, 39.97 seconds.

Skyline placed 12th overall as a team with 21 points. Federal Way won the event with 56 points.

Eastlake and Eastside Catholic had athletes competing in the event, but failed to earn team points.

Eastlake girls place 21st

The Eastlake girls finished the 51-team Lake Washington Invitational in 21st place with 13 team points.

Senior Haley O’Connor paved the way for the Wolves with a second-place finish in the 400 meters. She finished in 58.40 seconds — just .35 seconds behind Highline’s Whitney Diggs (58.05).

O’Connor was also the lead leg on Eastlake’s fifth-place 1,600 relay team. Katelyn Steen, Morgan O’Connor and Nicole Rader helped the team finish in 4 minutes, 11.58 seconds.

Lauren Files also earned points for the Wolves in the 300 hurdles, placing 8th in a time of 47.81 seconds.

Issaquah girls finish fifth in Tomahawk Invite

Missing a few of their key athletes, the Issaquah girls placed fifth of eight teams at Saturday’s Tomahawk Invitational in Marysville.

The Eagles earned 70.5 points, finishing well behind winner Arlington (198).

Sophomore McKenna Hogan won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 5 1/4 inches. She also placed third in the 200 and fourth in the 100.

Freshman Mack Wieburg placed second in the 400 in a time of 59.87 seconds and Lauren Bruner was second in the 300 hurdles in a time of 49.31 seconds.

Issaquah boys take seventh

The Issaquah boys placed seventh in Saturday’s eight-team Tomahawk Invite with 55 points.

Arlington (201) won the meet with Marysville-Pilchuck (101) second.

Seniors Jason Hollaway and Turner Wiley earned the highest finishes for the Eagles with a pair of second places. Hollaway clearede 13 feet in the pole vault, finishing only second behind Marysville’s Connor Hemming. Wiley finished the 3,200 meters in 9:51.85 behind Inglemoor’s Colin O’Neil (9:27.97).

Mike Baba placed third in the javelin with a toss of 166 feet, 1 inch.

Sophomore sprinter Kenny Norton placed fourth in the 400 (54.23 seconds) and was the second leg on Issaquah’s third-place 1,600 relay team. Jorrell Dorsey, Trevor Dolan and Cory Nevin helped the team finish in 3:37.30.
