Issaquah “mom and pop” winery wins two awards

A new mom and pop winery on Tiger Mountain won two bronze metals from the Tri-Cities Wine Festival.

Rod and Dona Ahrens of Twin Cedars brought home awards for their 2009 cabernet sauvignon and their 2009 merlot.

The submissions included wines from throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The awards were given after a blind tasting.

The Issaquah couple handcrafts small batches of wine in a little winery on their property. They released their first commercial wine this summer.
