Fischer Meats is target of Issaquah’s third Cash Mob

In recognition of the first day of summer, the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce will host its third Cash Mob to help support a locally owned business.

At 4 p.m., June 21, the Mob will form on Front Street at one of Issaquah’s oldest businesses, Fischer Meats.

A recently formed group of Chamber members, known as Young Issaquah Professionals — or YIPpies — has been the mastermind behind orchestrating this extreme version of local shopping.

A Cash Mob is a group of people who congregate at a locally-owned business and infuse their collective cash into the local merchant’s register. In most cases, the “mobbers” are asked to spend around $20 each, but any amount will do.

“Fischer Meats has served our community for over a century as a locally-owned merchant,” said Nathan Perea, director of Membership Development for the Issaquah Chamber. “What better way to welcome the start of summer than to purchase something for your grill and support a classic downtown business?”

The first two Cash Mob’s have taken place in Gilman Village. The first was held in May at Lucky You! and the second was in May at Sister’s Antiques.
